Position Highlights The James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences is seeking candidates to fill a temporary Research Technician I position within the Laboratory of Space Systems and Optomechanics (LASSO) at the Wyant College of Optical Sciences. The candidate will conduct and support laboratory and research work related to the development of novel optical and optomechanical sensing systems and instrumentation, and their related electronic, mechanical and software components.

Please note: Federal regulations require that the incumbent be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or have another protected status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to be ITAR/EAR compliant.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the collection and recording of experimental data. Modify equipment or processes as needed under the guidance of faculty or graduate students who are familiar with the setup.
  • Under the supervision and guidance of the principal investigator and senior team members, assist and support laboratory and research work related to the development of novel optical and optomechanical sensing systems and instrumentation, and their related electronic, mechanical and software components.
  • Documentation of work and communicating progress to supervising PI and others in the group.
  • Attend group meetings and interact on a day-to-day basis with senior investigators. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Potential other collaborative work within the research group, and assist them with data and record information, and maintaining logs of experimental data.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
