As a Purchasing Specialist II, you will lead the procurement of materials and services for the Newark Plant, including MRO, capital, vehicle leases, site services, and other business services from external suppliers. You will ensure the sourcing function meets all plant operational requirements, enhances productivity through sourcing initiatives, and leads corporate sourcing directives. Active participation in TPM is required. You will uphold Owens Corning's values and business policies, demonstrating commitment to personal transformation, high performance, business acumen, market knowledge, and leadership. Reports to:Logistics Leader Job Responsibilities Execution of Sourcing Strategy (50%)
- Implement purchasing needs in alignment with business strategy for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the broader Sourcing community to learn processes and create efficient solutions for purchasing within the Newark Plant.
- Provide solutions to improve Newark spending alongside the other Purchasing Specialist II.
Procurement
- Ensure accurate sourcing data in SAP.
- Develop and update vendor and material records accurately.
- Promptly clear all GRINIs (Goods Receipts with No Invoice), Kickouts, and late order lead times.
- Utilize the procurement card for non-coded or one-time items and reconcile expenses outside the Spend Connect Guided Buy.
Continuous Improvement and Compliance (30%)
- Implement sourcing process improvements to enhance efficiency and mitigate organizational risks.
- Identify and develop innovative ideas to achieve organizational goals while adhering to Owens Corning's policies, processes, and procedures.
- Ensure site compliance with Owens Corning's requirements, processes, and controls.
- Provide backup support for the Supply Chain and Sourcing team as needed.
- Assist with project implementation and change management initiatives as required.
Communication & Training (20%)
- Partner with the other Purchasing Specialist to provide training for stakeholders on processes.
- Influence others; persuasively present thoughts and ideas; inspire commitment and ensure support for ideas.
- Be a local SAP, Coupa, and Business Information champion for Sourcing.
Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Supply Chain Management or Business.
- 2 years of experience in Supply Chain/Sourcing.
- Proficiency in computer skills and Microsoft applications; SAP (ERP) system experience is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Experience with SAP, BI, and Coupa systems.
- Experience with payment terms and contract negotiations.
