As an Application Engineer, you will play a key role in evaluating customer-specific requirements and developing tailored compressor system solutions. You will be responsible for performing technical evaluations, sizing calculations, and preparing proposals for reciprocating compressor systems that align with our product range. This role requires a deep understanding of compressor applications, engineering principles, and cost analysis to ensure the proposed solutions are both technically feasible and commercially viable.

This position reports to the V.P. Gas Applications.

Duties/Responsibilities:




  • Analyze customer specifications, and project requirements, perform technical sizing calculations and simulations to determine the feasibility of utilizing our oil-free reciprocating compressor and booster product range for the customer's needs.
  • Develop and prepare comprehensive technical proposals, including detailed descriptions of the recommended compressor systems, specifications, and configurations. Calculate competitive and profitable pricing based on project requirements, considering material, production, and operational costs to create pricing that meets business objectives while remaining competitive in the marketplace.
  • Work closely with the sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure the proposed solutions are feasible, aligned with company capabilities, able to meet customer specifications and deadlines.
  • Engage with customers and Sales Engineers to clarify technical specifications, address inquiries, and provide expert guidance on compressor and booster systems.
  • Develop quoting and estimating tools to increase the efficiency and accuracy of proposal creation.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor products, and new technologies to inform proposals and ensure our solutions remain innovative and competitive.
  • Take action as appropriate and required to get the job done and to establish and maintain communications with all people/employees considered necessary.



Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Must be a self-motivated team player, who has a positive "can do" attitude, and can provide excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Must also have excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar), Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Power Point, and other tools for calculations and proposal preparation.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail when performing calculations, preparing proposals, and communicating with customers.
  • Strong knowledge of reciprocating compressors, along with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and instrumentation control systems.
  • Understanding of, and ability to create various basic engineering documents like GA, P&ID, Single line diagram, Process flow diagram etc.
  • Some travel may be required



Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in compressor systems engineering, application engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to successfully achieve goals and implement business development planning.



Physical Demands:



  • Required to be able to move about the facility (standing, walking) and customer sites, varying by location.



Personal Protective Equipment:



  • Must comply with all Company PPE policies as directed.
  • While at customer locations, must comply with Company PPE policies as a minimum, and customer PPE policies as directed.



Work Environment:



  • Mainly an office environment, with occasional exposure to warehouse environments and to customers' varying industrial environments
