Salary Range $41.29/Hour Posting Date 04/02/2025 Union Yes FLSA Status Non-Exempt Shift Work Possible FT/PT Full-time Relocation No Travel Possible Job Summary: NDI Level I Specialist performs the duties of Level I according to MIL-STD-410 and is certified for specific techniques in a given method of non-destructive inspections for aircraft, engines, and ground support equipment. Performs both on and off-equipment maintenance. Performs certified tasks with minimum supervision. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Performs the duties of Level I according to MIL-STD-410 to perform nondestructive inspections of aircraft, engines, and ground support equipment. * Performs NDI of aircraft, engine components, and ground support equipment, using eddy current, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, radiographic, ultrasonic, and visual inspection methods. * Performs NDI testing, including that associated with TCTO related inspections IAW applicable technical data. * Informs maintenance personnel to the extent and location of each defect detected during NDI activities. * Documents each defect on the applicable form(s), specifying the extent and location. * Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft records and is proficient in CAMS documentation. * Accomplishes process controls and performs operator maintenance of assigned NDI equipment. * Ensures compliance with housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety programs. * May be selected to perform special certifications including Red X inspections. * May be assigned to maintain TO files, bench stock, shop stock, CTKs, or hazardous waste areas. * Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed. * Must promote Company values, policies, and standards of conduct. * Must be customer oriented and ensure professional coordination with base agencies. * Shall perform other duties assigned to include TDY and travel. * Must be able to work day shift, night shift, or weekend duty as required. * Receives cross-utilization training and is qualified to perform those maintenance tasks Qualifications and Experience: * High school diploma or the equivalent is required. * Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. * Shall have the skills and knowledge to perform specific tests, specific calibrations, and specific interpretations and evaluations for acceptance or rejection. * A working knowledge of the scope and limitations of each of the stated NDI methods is required. * An awareness of the need for and the limitations of test standards is required. * A working knowledge of the types and locations of defects to be expected is required. * Shall be knowledgeable of any necessary preparation of parts before and after inspection. Page 2 of 2 * Shall be able to follow the procedures in the techniques for which certified. * Possession of a valid NDI Level I Examiner certificate is required. * Graduation from the U.S. Air Force NDI school or the equivalent is required. * Training in spectrometric oil analysis is desired. * The amount of experience stated for each of the following NDI testing methods is required: A. Eddy Current: 130 hours plus 12 hours of training B. Magnetic Particle: 130 hours plus 12 hours of training C. Liquid Penetrant: 130 hours plus 8 hours of training D. Radiographic: 400 hours plus 40 hours of training E. Ultrasonic: 400 hours plus 40 hours of training F. Six months of experience in oil analysis is desired. * Qualification to perform inspections under each of the methods in which certification was obtained is required. * The ability to meet the vision standards specified in MIL-STD 410 is required. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a flight line driver's license and may be required to obtain and maintain a class CDL. * Must be able to complete and maintain all special certification items as specified in AETC regulations/instructions.
