Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking a patent agent with 6+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience in a law firm setting to join the firm's pre-eminent, national Intellectual Property Department's Chemical, Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Practice Group. We are open to filling the position in any of our US offices. Qualified candidates must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field and must have strong patent prosecution skills.

The candidate preferably has significant experience drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications and preparing patent opinions specifically in chemistry, organic chemistry, small molecule chemistry, or in a similar technology. Experience preparing responses to Office Actions issued by the USPTO is required. Ideal candidate will have immediately transferable skills, strong legal writing and research skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Am Law 100 experience preferred.

In support of transparency and equity in the workplace, Foley provides salary ranges for all positions. The expected salary range for this position is between $225,000 - $275,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, experience, internal pay equity at Foley, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
