The Principal IT Data Scientist is a strategic position which drives change by designing and implementing innovative machine learning solutions. These solutions will improve go to market product performance while lowering total cost of ownership, improving quality and delivery, and customer experience using machine learning capabilities in a continuous closed-loop data driven system.

This position will leverage expertise in Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and machine learning to design, develop, and deploy scalable data-driven models that solve complex business challenges.This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of delivering high-value insights in a fast-paced environment. This is a technical leadership position which requires a high degree of business and technical knowledge. In this role, you will act as a change agent so effective communication, negotiation and prioritization skills are required. The scope of responsibilities broadly covers data science in manufacturing, quality, service and support.

This role is hybrid, requiring onsite work in: Vancouver, B.C.; Dayton, OH; Rochester, NY; OR Minneapolis, MN.

Responsibilities:

*Design, build, and deploy machine learning models and predictive analytics solutions using Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, and related tools in areas such as complex equipment manufacturing, maintenance, service and support

*Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model evaluation to ensure robust and accurate outcomes

*Develop and optimize data pipelines in Azure and Databricks for large-scale data processing and analysis

*Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities and translate them into actionable data science projects

*Implement end-to-end machine learning workflows, from data ingestion and preprocessing to model training, validation, and deployment

*Communicate complex technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

*Mentor, manage and coach professionals to create productive, high-performance teams and contribute to building a culture of data-driven decision-making

Preferred Knowledge:

*Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Azure Machine Learning with proven hands-on experience with Databricks for data engineering, machine learning, and big data analytics

*Strong proficiency in Python, R, or Scala, and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or Spark MLlib

*Demonstrated ability to build and deploy scalable machine learning models in production environments

*Experience with steaming analytics scenarios using Kafka, Azure Event Hubs and/or Azure IoT Hub, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics

*Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex, unstructured problems

*Strong communication skills with the ability to present insights to diverse audiences

Education:

*College degree required. Master's or Advanced Degree preferred with 10+ years related experience in data science/data analytics
