Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Sales Director. The primary function of the Sales Director is leading and coaching assigned staff to drive profitable growth both within current customer base and new prospects, to increase customer satisfaction, drive productivity and achieve and exceed Element's booking objectives. The successful candidate will manage a sales team (which can consist of Business Development Directors, Business Development Managers and Business Development Associates), Inside Sales Manager(s) and Quotation Management Team.

In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coaching of a sales team and quotation management team, to maximize bookings on all customer segments. You will display and cascade an Enterprise mentality and create a positive environment. You will also responsible for the prioritization and assignment of their resources to the best opportunities and potential customers, setting clear goals and priorities for their direct reports.



Responsibilities

Leadership

    Achieve roll-up sales goals through effective coaching and managing of direct reports
  • Ensure the commercial team uses desired behaviors, actions, processes, and tools to execute the sales strategy and drive a proactive, positive, enterprise sales approach
  • Build a competitive and motivating atmosphere of selling
  • Ensure sales resources are aligned with Element's sales / go-to-market strategy
  • Proactively promote account management excellence
  • Leverage internal networks and engage with other Element resources to help colleagues to advance opportunities and deliver a seamless customer experience
  • Provide positive leadership and representation of Element to the public, customers, vendors, and all colleagues

Strategy and Planning

  • Lead and contribute to the generation of the Region and Business Unit's strategic plans, working with other functional leads and business heads to ensure alignment
  • Create and routinely review performance
  • Support Element's pricing strategy
  • Prepare market assessment studies and business cases, and execute plans for new business opportunities
  • Identify and propose geographical expansions through M&A, or green field, opportunities
  • Seek out and support new partnerships / alliance opportunities

Market Development

  • Grow Element's market presence by identifying and exploiting new opportunities
  • Lead the generation of effective market analysis across the business unit, ensuring data is available promptly; undertaking and coordinating geographical and market segment analysis of the customer operational requirements
  • Partner with marketing colleagues to drive the improvement of Element's brand recognition

Performance

  • Achieve sales goals by driving the penetration, conversion and retention of accounts
  • Provide regular reports on KPIs
  • Comply with, and drive adoption of, Element's commercial excellence processes, tools and systems
  • Participate in, and where appropriate, lead, training and coaching opportunities

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all Element policies including, but not limited to, terms & conditions, trade compliance, treatment of others, moral code of conduct, and the employee handbook
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable laws in relation to GDPR, safety, environment, and corporate governance


Skills / Qualifications

  • Proven track record in leading Sales & Marketing/ Commercial Operations (including key account management, marketing & pricing) supporting revenues of $230 million in an international environment where they have clearly demonstrated their ability to develop end markets and drive above-market growth
  • Demonstrable experience in developing high performing sales teams who exceed their targets year on year
  • Strong understanding of sales and routes to markets, including call center and web-based strategies (e-commerce)
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage matrixed relationships
  • End market/sector expertise developed in international B2B business ideally in the provision of services to safety critical end markets
  • Exceptional business and commercial acumen
  • Experience in successful integration of acquisitions
  • A track record of sponsoring and enabling cultural change (programs)
  • Strategical and tactical capabilities, able to develop and execute plans
  • Excellent influencing, persuading and negotiating skills
