Job Description

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at the University of Missouri-Columbia seeks an energetic, dynamic Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor in Industrial Engineering. The new faculty member will join a team that is actively pursuing new frontiers in engineering education and research in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment.

Candidates with backgrounds in applied statistics, operations research, data analytics, and artificial intelligence are encouraged to apply. Highly desirable are candidates who can teach broadly across the breadth of industrial engineering topics and have some prior experience with working on industry-based projects to support the department's industry-based Capstone Design courses. In addition to teaching, the candidate will have opportunities to mentor students, serve on graduate student committees, and participate in education-focused research projects.

The starting date is anticipated to be August 15, 2025. This role is eligible for future promotion.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering or related field by the start date.

Candidates will be evaluated on outstanding communication and teamwork skills, demonstrated application of innovative teaching methods, evidence of teaching effectiveness in engineering, and commitment to student success. This is a multi-year, nine-month contract appointment with the potential for summer courses and renewal at the discretion of the University.
