Job Summary

The Donor Relations department is currently seeking a Donor Relations Student Assistant to join their team of professionals.

Duties include:

  • Assist with the organization, preparation, and execution of events, meetings, and other special recognition items (holiday, birthdays, etc). This also includes communication distribution, cross referencing and research to ensure accuracy (i.e: mailing addresses, names, birthdates, etc) and arrange and distribute recognition cards as needed.
  • Assist with tracking, auditing, data population and updating information utilizing database information. Support unit roundtables with calendaring and document updates.
  • Provide support with event planning and execution. This includes printing labels, organizing and mailing invitations; handling follow-up phone calls to encourage RSVPs; registration staffing and support, data entry support, monitoring of the DRS email account for donor responses and inquiries; update team calendars with upcoming events. Upload event photos to DRS Flickr account.
  • Support and facilitate all new opportunity inventory which includes documentation and implementation support. Utilize GiftMap for data integration, training, and adoption by Units. Assist with troubleshooting items.
  • Assist with Digital Acknowledgement Notecards (i.e: FIUStrong, Alumni Giving, first time donor, tribute). Research and support a new process using NXT / Lists/ Workflow to launch communications. Work alongside Writing Team on quarterly templates.
  • Aid and support the team with ad hoc departmental projects.
Minimum Qualifications

Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days.

Customer service knowledge

Ability to work in a team setting.

Basic level of Microsoft Word.

None to basic Microsoft Excel.

Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.

Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
Work Schedule

Monday-Friday/ 20 hours per week

Between the hours of 8:30am-5:00pm

Advertised Salary

$13.00/hour to $14.00/hour
