Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business

Job Description

The Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business invites applicants with excellent teaching credentials in business professional development along with relevant industry experience for a full-time, non-tenure track (NTT) assistant teaching professor opportunity. The overall teaching load will be equivalent to twelve (12) credit hours per semester. This is not a remote-work position, but some online courses may be scheduled.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate professional development courses and have an academic departmental home in one of the College's four emphasis areas that best aligns with their professional background: Accountancy, Finance, Management or Marketing. Courses in the candidate's home academic unit that fit the background and interest of the teaching professor may be scheduled.

The successful candidate will support professional development initiatives in the Trulaske Professional Edge program and in master's program, including the MBA and MAcc. This includes working with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders. These activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assisting the Director of Experience Centered Learning with the development and implementation of Edge curriculum and short- and long-term strategies and policies for the Trulaske Edge program.
  • Assisting the Director of the Master's Programs Office in creating professional development programming for in-person and online MBA programs.
  • Developing collaborative stakeholder relationships within the Trulaske College of Business; the University; and the broader local, national, and international business communities.
  • Establish external and internal partnerships that support Edge and master's program initiatives and Trulaske student professional development opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching professional development topics and courses that implement experiential, hands-on student learning opportunities. They will bring previous teaching and industry experiences to help Trulaske students develop distinguishing professional competencies, prepare for future internships, become competitive on the job market, and be prepared for career success after graduation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: A PhD or ABD (with degree completion expected within 12 months of hire) in Business, Communication, Public Affairs, or a related field and demonstrated relevant teaching experience. A master's degree combined with extensive professional development, leadership, and higher education experience will also be considered.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

  • College-level teaching experience and a passion for teaching professional development competencies: teamwork; career and self-development; communication; critical thinking; valuing differences; leadership; professionalism; ethics and integrity; global mindset; and technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with external businesses and stakeholders to enhance student learning and professional development opportunities.
  • Ability to engage students in both large (300+) and small section formats as well as face-to-face and hybrid or online formats.
  • Effective use of a variety of student assessment methods.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems for grade management and reporting.
  • Collegiality in service roles involving curriculum design, integration, oversight, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ensuring students are exposed to contemporary best-practices in professional development.
