Provides leadership for Security Services and ensures delivery of quality services; regulatory compliance, manages operations efficiently and effectively to achieve service and objectives. Assist with management of the healthcare security officers. May assist with the development of the security officer training and retention initiatives. The Supervisor of Security Servicers primary objective will be maintaining a safe, secure and threat free environment. The Supervisor shall maintain the framework for the successful implementation and maintenance of our comprehensive security program. Supervises Leads and Security Officers on assigned shift. Ensures officers are present, in optimum physical and mental condition, and aware of current and recent events related to their assigned site. Provides training, evaluations, and guidance in operational matters including patrol, incident resolutions, building access, investigative, report writing and parking control activities. While not authorized to carry firearms, may use security defensive equipment (e.g., batons, pepper foam/gel, handcuffs) when necessary, according to training and/or standard procedures.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensures the delivery of high-quality customer service through regular contact with clients; evaluates service quality and initiates corrective action as necessary.
  • Meets regularly with client representatives for status updates and addresses any actual or potential problems; supports client temporary start-ups; carries out security planning, assessments and surveys; reviews and updates post orders.
  • Develops and administers Healthcare Security Competency Tasks and its associated checklist in collaboration with Area management.
  • Maintains a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, organizational policies and procedures. Acts to ensure that staff members understand and comply with applicable laws, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Authorizes appropriate equipment, supplies, and ensures security vehicles are properly maintained and administers on the daily shifts. Ensures adequate inventory of uniforms, radios, etc.; maintains and submits payroll records and other required information.
  • Ensures scheduling is handled effectively to meet client requirements while controlling labor costs; reviews site reports to ensure post orders and client directions have been followed.
  • Provide post coverage, if necessary, evaluate and document subordinate's performance.
  • Ensures that each security post is covered and that the card reader system and other Security equipment is functional. Completes all Security Supervisors' report logs. Conducts routine area checks during the shift. Take regular rounds of the premises and ensure security measures are adhered.
  • Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff, media, and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Participates in the development, documentation, communication, testing and periodic review and revision of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Provide for training on specific-security issues for various communities of the hospital. Directing, motivating, training, coaching, and disciplining staff in a positive manner.
  • Keep hospital management informed of information and security issues and practices in the hospitals and clinics which may affect the hospitals or the campus community.
  • Ensure the compliance with governmental regulations (HIPAA, FERPA, etc.) and hospital policies. Maintain security documentation as required for outside regulatory agencies (The Joint Commission, HIPPA, etc.).
  • Assign duties to subordinates and allocation of post keeping in view the security requirements.
  • Deal with patients and visitors, guide them as required. Ensure the safety of patients, visitors' and employees' upon request of any escorts to and from vehicles on the campus.
  • Inter-department coordination for day-to-day complaints from operations department into the hospital Safety Risk Management System (SRM).
  • Ensure material/assets are physically verified while coming in and going out of the premises throughout organization including parking lots and/or hospital premises, including hotel/student housing.
  • Thorough knowledge of emergency procedure which may require security response. (Hospital Emergency Codes)
  • Conduct briefing/daily huddles on personal grooming/dress policies, inspection of shifts, uniform, equipments and fitness for duty.
  • Check security management logbook/emails daily for quality assurance. Keep the security manager apprised and informed of conditions and security activities in the hospital.
  • Take charge of investigations of all reported crimes, injuries or any unusual incidents; make necessary reports to document incident.
  • Ensure staff is punching into Time & Attendance system to ensure clocking in/out of shifts daily.
  • Ensure implementation of company standards as mentioned in security standard post order.
  • Safe custody of all the documents handed over. ( Chain of Custody , Lost & Found)
  • Ensures attendance on behavioral and vocational training programs, and personally conducts key training. Attends behavioral and functional training in own and related work areas to enhance skills and develop multifunctionality.
  • Provide physical assistance alongside a staff member, including but not limited to nursing supervisor and/or nursing aid in lifting, transporting, and placing cadavers in a morgue or designated location.
  • In the event of an emergency, the employee holding this position is required to "report to duty" in accordance with the university's Emergency Operations Plan and/or the employee's department's emergency response and/or recovery plans. Familiarity with those plans and regular training to implement those plans is required. During or immediately following an emergency, the employee will be notified to assist in the emergency response efforts and mobilize other staff members if needed.
  • In performing functions, duties or tasks, employees are required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations. Employees are required to notify superiors upon becoming aware of unsafe working conditions.
  • All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical, and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
  • Knowledgeable and keeps up to date with National Incident Management System FEMA training and laws.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested; any other job assigned from time to time by the concerned superiors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High school or equivalent
  • Req 3 years 3 to 5 years' experience in related security field required.
  • Req Demonstrated experience in monitoring surveillance system and writing reports.
  • Req Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
  • Req Physical ability to handle various intervention incidents, including patient restraints and violent subjects.
  • Req Understanding of CAL-OSHA, CDPH, HIPPA, and/or Joint Commission (TJC), Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) hospital emergency codes.
  • Req Ability to exercise emotional control, judgment, and objectivity.
  • Req Must have the ability to plan, organize and implement administrative and operational programs and procedures, which includes the development of schedules.
  • Req Computer literate and use of personal computer and computer program software.
  • Req Knowledge about all security equipment and security operations..
  • Req Attention to details, achievement orientation, positive attitude, and self-motivation skills.
  • Req Very high internal customer focused orientation with strong customer service and service delivery orientation.
  • Req Oral and written communications skills, including the excellent written and spoken English.
  • Req Ability to be an effective supervisor and member of teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Bachelor's degree preferably with emphasis in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Criminology, Communication or Business Administration
  • Pref 1 year 1+ years' experience in Lead/Supervisory role preferred.
  • Pref Experience, knowledge and/or training in safety, fire protection, civil disturbance, emergency preparedness procedures and planning, C.P.R./AED, Security and Safety issues and standards as set forth by the Department of Health Services and The Joint Commission is preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Driver's License (CA DMV) Valid current California driver's license is required.
  • Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • Req California Guard Certification (BSIS) BSIS California Guard Certification Card required and must be maintained by renewal before expiration date.
  • Req International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) (Supervisory) IAHSS-International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (Supervisory training) required within 1 year of hire
  • Req AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention Certification AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention Certification - required within 6 months of meeting eligibility criteria.
  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The hourly rate range for this position is $29.00 - $45.20.
