Properties Intern!

We manage the Portland International Airport (PDX), marine terminals, and industrial properties, supporting regional trade and transportation. Your role: This internship offers hands-on experience in revenue generation, business operations, customer experience, and operational efficiency at PDX through rotational assignments. You'll develop workplace skills, build professional relationships with Port staff and business partners, and gain insight into lease negotiation, compliance, and property management across PDX, Hillsboro Airport (HIO), and Troutdale Airport (TTD). The role also provides exposure to in-terminal concessions, airline leasing, commercial property development, and ground transportation operations while allowing you to experience different management and working styles in a dynamic airport environment.
To be considered for this intern position you must be a current student enrolled in a Portland-area school for the duration of employment. Spring 2025 graduates will not be eligible for this internship unless documentation of continued educational classes (graduate school documentation related to the field) can be provided at the time of application.
Duration: Expected sunset date on or around May 30, 2026, with full-time work during school breaks and part-time during the school year.
Compensation is determined by school year and experience.

Essential Job Duties
-
- Partner with the PDX Terminal Concessions team with projects that optimize revenue generation and enhance the customer experience in the PDX food, beverage, retail and terminal advertising programs.
- May include help supporting terminal concessionaires and business partners, developing KPI reports, program marketing and promotions, street pricing audits, contract compliance, and researching industry trends and best practices.
- Partner with the Terminal Leasing and Airline Affairs team with projects that provide excellent customer support to PDX airlines, enhance property management and contract compliance for airlines (passenger and cargo).
- May include help supporting airline business partners, researching industry trends and best practices, and property leasing.
- Partner with the Commercial Landside and Operations team with projects supporting revenue generation and customer experience in parking, rental cars, ground transportation and contract administration.
- May include assistance with KPI and operational reporting, landside projects (replacement of parking revenue control system) and contract compliance.
- Partner with the Airside and General Aviation team on projects that generate revenue at all three airports (PDX, HIO, TTD) through property development and leasing.
- Work may include assistance with property management best practices, researching industry trends and best practices, and contract administration of the entire Aviation lease portfolio.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and seeking a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Property/Real Estate Management, or a related field.
- Experience, knowledge, or interest in commercial real estate and/or the retail and hospitality industry is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
- Student must also provide current unofficial transcript at time of application.
- Maintenance of a minimum 2.5 grade point average and continued enrollment in classes pertinent to the internship is required.
- Maintain a valid state driver's license is required.
- Must successfully pass and maintain clearance of a comprehensive Criminal History Records Check and a Security Threat Assessment for a PDX Security Badge, are required.

Supplemental and Selection Information

SELECTION PROCESS (tentative schedule):
- A minimum qualification evaluation of education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources the week of April 28, 2025.
- A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials including any responses to the supplemental questionnaire.
- Our goal is to schedule panel interviews with candidates that successfully passed the SME evaluation as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be notified after interviews are complete, with a tentative start date in June 2025.
