About the Job

Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral research associate to
join our team for a research project investigating the treatment of bone metastases in the spine using radiofrequency ablation, bone augmentation, and radiotherapy.

The project is a pilot study and includes work with a multidisciplinary team of interventional radiologists, oncologists, radiation oncologists, senior scientists, and clinical research professionals.

The position will report to the Principal Investigator. The individual will primarily work independently on day-to-day activities with support and guidance from clinical research professionals. Given the need to consent in the clinics and coordinate participant visits, the successful candidate should expect to be in the office routinely, 3+ days per week. The ability to work remotely exists and is dependent on work duties.

Funding is available for up to three years, contingent on satisfactory performance. The proposed start date is the summer of 2025 but may be negotiable.

This is a 0.75 FTE position.

Qualifications:
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.

Required Qualifications:
* PhD, MD, or equivalent.
* Experience collaborating with clinical and research faculty in an academic setting.
* Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
* Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
* Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions, set priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and interruptions.
* Expertise navigating electronic health records (e.g., EPIC) and interpreting medical terminology.
* Ability to work flexible hours as required by study protocols to include on call and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience as a clinical research coordinator
* Proficiency with electronic data capture systems (e.g., REDCap).
* Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice, research ethics, and regulatory requirements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Study Implementation, Patient Recruitment, & Coordination (30%)
* Design workflows and procedures, providing training for the study team.
* Assist with determination of subject eligibility and maintain compliance with protocol eligibility requirements.
* Recruit potential subjects.
* Obtain or confirm subject's consent to participate in research.
* Coordinate the implementation of the IRB approved protocol.
* Develop and maintain accurate, complete source documentation and records.
* Monitor subject responses to protocol defined treatments/interventions, and schedule required visits and tests.
* Evaluate laboratory and other findings to determine the presence of expected and unexpected subject reactions or outcomes.
* Report adverse events or problems with data collection or other research processes.
* Comply with applicable Federal Regulations, Good Clinical Practice, and local research regulatory requirements.

Data Collection (30%)
* Collaborate with Principal Investigator to develop and create a study database, utilizing university available resources and platforms (i.e. REDCap).
* Perform study data collection and entry into appropriate research database(s).
* Collect enrollment and treatment data, using medical records, correspondence, electronic medical records, and personal communications with other healthcare workers.
* Complete and maintain essential source documentation, regulatory documents, and case-report forms (CRFs).
* Receive and respond to data queries and monitoring action items as assigned.

Data Analysis (15%)
* Interpret patient questionnaire data.
* Investigate trends of response based on imaging and biomarker data.
* Perform basic statistical work in collaboration with principal investigator, senior research scientist, and statistician.
Preparation of manuscripts and conference papers (20%)
* Prepare and edit manuscripts and conference abstracts.
* Coordinate the submission of manuscripts to various journals and handle the review and resubmission process. (This is expected to be completed in close collaboration with the PI as well as the other authors and contributors to the papers.)
* If abstracts are selected for poster or oral presentations, the researcher will be responsible for presenting these, if/when possible.
* Collaborate with principal investigator, senior research scientist, and statistician for future grant submissions
Additional duties (5%)
* Other duties as assigned.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $45,756 - 55,566.00 (NIH post doctoral stipend ranges adjusted to 0.75 FTE) depending on education/qualifications/experience
