JOB OVERVIEW:

As part of the world's largest almond processing manufacturer, this role will lead and develop a warehouse and distribution team in our state-of-the-art facility at Blue Diamond. As the Manger - Warehouse & Distribution, this role is responsible for overseeing and leading daily product movement operations and ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficiently, while driving a continuous improvement culture. This role involves leading a team in achieving high performing results in Safety, Quality, Service, Performance, and People objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads storage, product movement at the Salida and Oakdale facility, balancing hourly workforce, ensuring specifications, plant efficiencies, and production schedules are met.
  • Collaborates with Site Director to establish, communicate, and execute measurable production objectives in support of Plant and Business Unit strategies.
  • Leads and fosters an environment of continuous improvement and learning to achieve and maintain industry leadership; promotes the organization's culture of Zero Waste, Zero Harm, One Team, and 100% Commitment.
  • Manages the inventory function within the Distribution Center ensuring target performance levels are achieved and drives strategies to maximize inventory accuracy and minimize lost and damaged product losses.
  • Leads program in receiving, shipping. Includes training and audits designed to increase proficiency in safety practices and promotion of safety awareness.
  • Coaches the Distribution and Warehouse teams towards common objectives, including applying sound motivations and correctional techniques, including employee counseling and disciplinary actions and recognitions for good work.
  • Stays abreast of employee contributions and potential growth.
  • Ensures that healthy operational reviews and measures /KPI's are in place to track and deliver results to reduce injuries, improve quality, and reduce costs.
  • Manages packaging warehouse and pallet purchase and repair.
  • Ensures facility complies with all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements involving human safety, food safety, and environmental concerns. Operates in compliance with federal, state, and local statutes.
  • Leads and supports continuous improvements by instituting best practices as appropriate, including methods such as TPM, Six Sigma, Lean, etc.
  • Anticipates problem issues before they arise and takes corrective action.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to better understand and meet customer/grower needs and operate facility more efficiently.
  • Develops and conducts effective employee training programs, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety awareness.
  • Promotes continuous learning of staff, resulting in a flexible and agile workforce.
  • Stays abreast of cutting-edge technology through external education programs, benchmarking, or similar facilities and professional seminars.

WHAT YOU NEED

*Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or manufacturing or related field
  • 6 years of warehouse logistics management experience
  • 8 years of experience supervising Shipping/DC/Warehouse teams
  • Experience with operating a wide range of food processing equipment; knowledge of SQF and quality standards and requirements
  • High-degree of cross-functional understanding of maintenance practices and techniques; good understanding of SPC and associated tools
  • Covers weekends as needed to support 24/7 operations

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a standard manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, hazardous materials, and heavy machinery in varying work and weather conditions. You may be required to occasionally climb stairs and/or ladders.
