Job Description

Purpose

Facilitates the timely purchase of supplies, services, and outside sub-contracting services for operations. Position is supportive to all areas of operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare and distribute bids to qualified vendors
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Purchase all services and supplies, including Factory Stores, through approved requisition and/or Factory Stores order report utilizing spot buy purchase orders and/or consignment and blanket purchase orders.
  • Sub-Contracting services are negotiated, processed, and expedited in conjunction with operations requirements.
  • Enter all Purchase Orders into system and maintain files with backup information
  • Source and update vendors as required. Control and maintain vendor insurance certificates and hold harmless agreements.
  • Follow up on all orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Maintain constant communication with the team and vendors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to forecast demand and manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience within manufacturing organizations with a demonstrated track record of accountability and achievement.
  • Strong contract experience, including the ability to handle multiple orders simultaneously.
  • Thorough knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices, excellent communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong computer literacy with ability to manage multiple data bases, data entry skills and ability to search and pull-down data.
  • Prior experience with ERP/MRP systems is desirable.
  • Strong Excel/Microsoft Office skills essential.
  • Ability to work in a faced past environment.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Flexibility to work after hours or weekends as needed
  • Strong understanding of inventory forecasting.
