Software Engineer Intern

As a Software Engineer Intern at Docusign, you will work closely with the MSF Storage team to onboard Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server using Terraform, enabling automated, scalable, and secure database provisioning across multiple environments. This project is part of a strategic effort to enhance infrastructure consistency, operational efficiency, and cost optimization through reusable, standardized infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices.

You will contribute to building Terraform modules that support a wide range of configurations including compute, storage, high availability, geo-redundant backups, PEP integration, identity-based authentication, diagnostics, and PostgreSQL server parameters. The project will also deliver environment-specific .tfvars files, integrate with existing CI/CD pipelines, and produce comprehensive documentation to support adoption, governance, and ongoing operations. The solution will improve infrastructure provisioning for Docusign service teams-including AI and ADM-by enabling scalable, cost-efficient, and secure storage solutions. The project will be executed over a 12-week phased timeline covering design, development, testing, production rollout, and disaster recovery automation.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering.

Responsibility

• Develop and maintain reusable Terraform modules for provisioning Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server

• Design infrastructure components with support for compute, storage, high availability, and geo-redundant backups

• Implement identity-based authentication (AAD), PEP integration, and diagnostic settings

• Create and manage environment-specific .tfvars files for scalable and configurable deployments

• Integrate infrastructure modules into existing CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment

• Author detailed documentation covering usage, governance policies, and operational support

• Collaborate with the MSF Storage team and partner service teams to ensure alignment with best practices and requirements

• Contribute to improvements in storage provisioning for DocuSign service teams, resulting in enhanced scalability and cost savings

• Apply infrastructure as code best practices to ensure consistency, version control, and organizational compliance

• Participate in a phased 12-week project cycle including design, development, testing, production rollout, and DR automation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

Basic

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science
• Expected graduation in December 2025 or May/June 2026
• Knowledge of public cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure
  
  

Preferred

• Passion for infrastructure engineering, with a focus on building reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud solutions
• Understanding of storage as a service concepts, including provisioning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management of cloud-based storage solutions

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

Washington, New Jersey and New York (including NYC metro area): $38.00/hour - $44.00/hour
