This position is the most senior role within the business-data analyst job family and is responsible for partnering with senior businesses leaders to provide consultancy to envision and execute strategic business initiatives and translate those initiatives to the design and delivery of business intelligence solutions and the formulation of viable options for key business decisions. The incumbent also assists and reviews the work of more-junior analysts, while leading projects and analysis of the most complex nature.
This role is characterized as providing consultancy and leading the delivery of business intelligence solutions to business areas. This will be accomplished through the application of an expert knowledge of business areas supported, well-developed consultancy skills and mastery of the technical elements of the data analytics maturity curve from descriptive analytics to diagnostic to predictive to prescriptive.
Across any business area where this role is deployed, the incumbent independently consults with senior business leaders and senior support partners, relying on the ability to effectively collaborate with senior stakeholders, coordinate data professionals, provide counsel to business decisions and self-originate analytical solutions.
Depending on the business area, there may be specialized business knowledge and experience required, consistent with business needs. Responsibilities:
- Consult with senior business leaders to understand strategic initiatives, including the context of related business problems and the intent of proposed solutions. With this knowledge, identify key data points and analytical approaches that will quantitatively demonstrate value of the solution.
- Based on knowledge of strategy and the business environment, develop and deliver rich and actionable statistical analysis to bring insights to the leadership team.
- Work with data analysts to support their modeling and advanced analytics by providing technical direction, analytical coaching and inspection of their work.
- Lead the ongoing development for BLI's data and analytical capabilities by sourcing, developing and delivering content and mentoring and training analysts.
- Design and build management-information solutions including ad hoc data-and-analysis requests, recurring management-information reports, high-complexity business-intelligence dashboards and visualizations (using Power BI, Tableau, others), high-complexity analyses and data-driven business-decision models. Work with AUB technical SMEs to promote recurring jobs into production.
- Develop forecasts, predictive modeling and prescriptive analytics to inform and also participate in scenario-planning with business leaders for key business objectives. Document, test, validate and maintain models in concert with AUB data-and-modeling governance policies.
- Prepare original, descriptive-and-diagnostic analysis and visualizations, of a complex and sophisticated manner, in response to observed business trends, as well as stakeholder-identified areas of interest or concern. Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and effective manner.
Position Qualifications Education & Experience
- Undergraduate Degree within a quantitative discipline which could include: applied mathematics/statistics, data analytics, finance/economics, computer science or management information systems, business administration, among others."
- Minimum 5 years of professional data-and-analytics experience in a provider-to-business leader working relationship.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive mastery providing the full gamut of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics to business leaders.
- Depending on the business area in which this role is employed within AUB, there may be specialized business experience required, consistent with business needs.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Exceptional business analytics knowledge of technologies, techniques and practices for the evaluation of business performance data, value analysis, as well as reporting for sales or business activity; ability to analyze business performance using statistical methods to justify and drive future business planning decisions
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking, oral and written communication (including presentation skills), results oriented, and consultation skills.
- Proven abilities to lead multiple priorities given specific timelines and comfortable performing in a fast paced, dynamic and ambiguous business environment.
- Highly skilled in the use of Standard Query Language (SQL) or similar tools for data-informed business situations. Expert knowledge of databases and the norms for data-management practices. The incumbent must be able to source and utilize their own data with great skill.
- Creator/Power User expertise for Tableau or Power BI, with aptitude to master both tools in this role.
- Proficient in most of the typical desk-top applications used in this role: Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, Jira and others.

Organizational Relationship This position reports to a Business Intelligence Manager within the BLI Group. Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
