Who we are looking for:

Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation is seeking a strategic and experienced leader for the position of Division Director, Development Operations. This impactful role provides senior leadership, oversight, and strategic direction across two critical divisions: Development Services and Database Operations.

The Senior Director is responsible for maximizing donor engagement and driving fundraising results through the effective utilization of technology, database management, data analysis, and streamlined donor relations, stewardship, and prospect management activities, all in support of Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation mission.

This position is hybrid with a primary location in Alexandria, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate a comprehensive donor relations and stewardship strategy and initiatives that proactively engage donors at all levels.

  • Create or enhances fundraising systems, processes, and procedures for producing and distributing accurate and informative reports for donors.

  • Create and oversee procedures to administer the major donor acknowledgement process that achieves maximum donor engagement and recognition.

  • Contribute to the organization's overall strategic planning, ensuring donor operations align with broader goals.

  • Oversee strategy for custom stewardship plans for all donor segments (individuals, corporations, and foundations).

  • Oversee strategy for donor recognition & reporting.

  • Oversee the identification of potential major gift donors through various research methods, including database analysis, wealth screening, and external research.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of strategies for qualifying prospects based on their capacity, affinity, and inclination to give.

  • Oversee maintenance of donor database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.

  • Oversee development of data entry protocols, data hygiene practices, and quality control procedures.

  • Oversee and develop annual development operations budget in collaboration with Division leads.

  • Oversee software upgrades, enhancements, and new functionalities.

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in database management and fundraising technology.

  • Manage and maintain the day-to-day operations of the fundraising CRM.

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance donor engagement and increase fundraising revenue.

  • Oversee gift processing, database management, and reporting.

  • Work closely with senior leaders to design, expand and elevate the donor stewardship program by developing and implementing a plan to increase the number of donors touched, expand the methods of communication, , and employ best industry practices.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on corporate, foundation and major gift stewardship; stay informed of new practices, trends, and opportunities in donor relations and stewardship.

  • Develop strategic and collaborative partnerships with relationship managers to create and execute customized stewardship products and donor experiences.

  • Leverage technology to enhance all operations.

  • Supervise, coach and mentor direct reports.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus on nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field or equivalent years of experience

  • 12 - 15 years of relevant experience in fundraising database operations and development services

  • 6 years of staff management experience

  • Expertise with CRM systems and fundraising applications

  • In-depth understanding of all aspects of development

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in related field

  • Experience in development for oncology or medical organization

  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative in expanding the donor and prospect base.

  • Knowledge of the utilization of sophisticated integrated information systems in support of fundraising activities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people at all levels of an organization, including leadership, colleagues and volunteers.

  • Superior communication skills, including written, with ability to clearly convey and receive information.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and relationship building acumen.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to guide planning and decision-making.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with C-level executives to develop and implement organizational strategies.

  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize efforts/workloads, with a strong sense of ethics, urgency, and purpose.

  • The ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make decisions with sound judgment.

  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.

  • Strong technical proficiency and a demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technologies.

  • Strong leadership skills, and managerial/supervisory skills with the ability to delegate, motivate and develop staff.

  • Excellent project management and change management skills.

  • Strong presentation skills.

ADA/Physical Requirements

Extended periods seated or standing at a desk.

High use of computer and other office technology equipment.

Travel Requirements

1-10 nights /yr
