The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing the duties of all warehouse personnel that fulfill and dispatch orders, and ship and receive products into inventory. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for supervising warehouse systems and operations, training, safety, and compliance to maximize the performance of employees and ensure accurate inventory management. Warehouse supervisor leads daily warehouse functions as well as continuous improvement measures to make most cost-effective, prompt, timely and accurate deliveries to customers. This position will also oversee the duties and performance of the New Hope chemical delivery drivers, entailing dispatch, UTR safety, inventory management, work order completion and closure, and maintenance of required paperwork. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Warehouse Operations:
- Oversee and manage the warehouse team and operations.
- Schedule and direct duties of warehouse employees to achieve a high-output, low-cost warehouse operation.
- Ensure adherence to safety, health and compliance regulations in warehouse operations.
- Develop and measure performance goals and metrics for a high-achieving warehouse team.
- Utilize systems, support cycle counts and drive a conscientious culture to maintain inventory accuracy and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Develop and implement order fulfillment strategies to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Prepare reports on order status, inventory levels, and delivery progress.
- Handle customer complaints or issues related to order fulfillment.
- Coordinate with other departments such as sales and customer service to resolve order related issues.
- Maintain inbound and outbound paperwork and perform audits to ensure accuracy and determine training gaps.
- Utilize system and metrics to organize stow locations to ensure efficient product/parts flow for both inbound and outbound materials.
- Ensure that orders are processed accurately and timely.
- Inspect and verify orders and packages to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Performance Management of direct reports - including coaching and progressive discipline as necessary and drafting and conducting formal performance documents and reviews.
- Interview, select and onboard new hires for success - including coordinating training schedules and reviewing progress to achieve training benchmarks.
- HAZMAT compliance - Labeling, packing slips, shipping, storage, spill incident preparedness, etc..
- Acquire all required licenses, permits, etc. in required time frames.
- Lead site Safety Committee and foster a cross-departmental safety culture.
- Promptly communicate warehouse/facility repair & maintenance needs.
- Manage warehouse staff labor and overtime through evaluation of capacity needs and performance metrics.
- Conduct warehouse and shipping yard inspections to ensure proper housekeeping and removal of hazards.
Chemical Delivery Operations:
- Oversee safe and timely loading and dispatch of chemical delivery trucks daily.
- Ensure drivers have all required shipping paperwork.
- Ensure drivers have all required PPE, tools, spill response equipment, etc.
- Ensure all truck maintenance requirements or equipment deficiencies are reported to the chemical delivery manager immediately.
- Support chemical dispatch and logistical systems.
- Prepare reports on order status, inventory levels, and delivery progress.
- HAZMAT compliance - Labeling, packing slips, shipping, storage, spill incident preparedness, etc..
- Performance Management of direct reports - including coaching and progressive discipline as necessary and drafting and conducting formal performance documents and reviews.
Other:
- Conduct departmental meetings for communications, training, development, employee appreciation and team building.
- Update and maintain warehouse work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in cross-departmental operations meetings as required.
- Drive a continuous improvement culture.
- Fill in for employees as needed.
- Open and close warehouse, maintaining safety and security of people, inventory and equipment.
- 10-20% of time spent on forklift.
- 10% travel if required.
- Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Education: High school diploma or GED Experience and/or Training:
- 5 years of warehouse or shipping/receiving experience
- 4 years of warehouse management experience
- Knowledge of quality, 5-S, Six Sigma, and/or lean systems
- Transportation/logistics coordination and use of customer routing portals
- Strong communication & organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Licenses/Certificates:
- Hazmat shipping certification preferred
- Forklift certification or ability to become certified
Technology/Equipment:
- Basic Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- ERP/Inventory Management System (JDE preferred)
- Laptops and projectors for training purposes
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently asked to speak, hear, stand, sit, and/or use both hands to handle, or touch objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk, bend, distinguish colors or use repetitive movement for certain tasks. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. and occasionally lift more than 60lbs. intermittently. PPE will be used intermittently while working with certain hazardous materials. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a warehouse environment and in extreme heat (>80 degrees) during summer months as well as outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat during summer months. Though the warehouse is climate controlled in the winter months, work may be performed in cold climate conditions and, though infrequently, out of doors. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - safety steel/composite-toe shoes are required for this position. Work hazards - Safety concerns to include heavy products, light and heavy-duty machinery, PIT equipment such as forklifts and walkie-riders, working in a congested and high-activity warehouse. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual will encounter while performing the essential functions of this position. The anticipated hiring range for the role you are applying for is between $59,280 and $75,525 annually. This anticipated hiring range is based on several factors, and subject to increase based on the below:
