About the Hiring Group

The successful candidate will join RTI's Global Technology Solutions (GTS) reporting directly to the Senior Director, GTS Technology Leader.


What You'll Do

The Technology Lead is responsible for the maintenance and advancement of digital technology and IT capabilities within the laboratory business units, Discovery Science (DS) and Technology Advancement and Commercialization (TAC). This position works closely with GTS, business unit leaders, and laboratory staff to evaluate, administer, and manage current technology and inform the strategy for future technology use in the organization.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform thorough evaluation of current laboratory technology capabilities, needs, and gaps, informing current operational updates and future strategy for computing needs.
  • Partner with key stakeholders across RTI to develop approaches for differentiating digital capabilities and solutions, including criteria for build vs buy.
  • Regularly collaborate with business unit staff to ensure technology needs are evaluated and executed on an on-going basis.
  • Implement, maintain, and support technology tools to support laboratory operations.
  • Ensure adequate and redundant delivery of technology operations and support.
  • Maintain validation for laboratory systems where required.
  • Manage GTS laboratory deskside support staff to ensure timely and adequate resolution technology break/fix issues.
  • Assess external technology opportunities and threats as key inputs to making the best decisions on the overall technology strategy.
  • Be a thought leader on emerging lab technologies, informing best technology tools and practices to further lab business unit priorities & overall technology strategy.
  • Be a champion and change agent for the user community to create and sustain technology adoption.
  • Foster an internal culture of teamwork, transparent communication, collaboration, and integration.
  • Drive and foster excellent technology customer service, quality, diversity of thought, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Need

Minimum Required Education & Experience

A bachelor's degree in business administration, IT, engineering, computer science, or related field. Master's degree preferred. Eight years or more years of progressive lab computing experience.

  • Proven expertise in laboratory technology administration, support, and management
  • Proven experience in technology evaluation, process improvement, and system selection
  • Proven experience with customer-centric technology delivery and creating end user satisfaction
  • Understanding of the evolving landscape for laboratory computing technology
  • Working knowledge and experience with laboratory sciences from a digital technology perspective, for example Lab instruments and instrumentation software (e.g., LabView), data analysis (e.g., MATLAB, R Python, Origin), modeling simulation (e.g., ASPEN, TEA, Solid Works), laboratory networking and data retrieval
  • Working knowledge of the development and execution long-range strategic plans
  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture, and digital technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment
  • Experience in project management, agile/scrum delivery models, and release management
