Postdoctoral Fellow, Cell and Tissue Genomics, Lubeck Lab

The Lubeck lab in the department of Cell and Tissue Genomics at Genentech is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Fellow. The group uses and develops state-of-the-art spatial-omics and perturbation methods to address basic research questions and facilitate drug discovery. Goals for this position include the development and application of novel experimental and computational tools for spatial omics, label-free microscopy, in vivo screens, and foundational models. The ideal candidate for this role has a strong foundation in both experimental and computational sciences, but exceptional candidates lacking either skillset will be considered. This position will collaborate extensively with scientists in other departments in particular Computational Sciences, Neuroscience, and Human Genetics. Scientific insights resulting from this research are expected to be presented at scientific conferences and published in high-impact journals.

The Opportunity:

• Generate new methods for large-scale spatial transcriptomics and screening experiments.

• Analysis of perturbation and spatial-omics datasets

• Build predictive models delivering novel scientific insights.

Who You Are:

• Ph.D.in Biology, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Systems Biology, Neuroscience, Immunology or a related field.

• Expertise in tool development including any of the following areas: spatial omics, advanced microscopy, label-free imaging, genetic perturbation technology, AI/ML model development, or advanced molecular biology

• Experience in single-cell omics, spatial transcriptomics, and/or high-content imaging data analysis

• Demonstrated record of innovative scientific accomplishments as evidenced by at least one first-author or co-first author key paper

• Highly collaborative with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment together with multi-disciplinary teams of computational scientists and biologists

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco California is $98,000 to $104,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
