Essential Functions

- Responsible for the safe and successful execution of project construction activities, whether direct hire or subcontracted.
- Maintains responsibility for staffing projects with both qualified construction supervision (Superintendents and Construction Managers) and direct hire craft.
- Ensures all work is performed safely per the Company's policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensures all employees have the necessary training and equipment required for the task.
- Implements best construction practices.
- High level participation in development, preparation and review of proposals and bids for new projects.
- High level participation in the FEED process implementing constructability and construction planning techniques.
- Participates in bid walks and estimate reviews.
- Develops construction work processes and procedures.
- Collaborates with the Project Management and Project Controls staff to develop and maintain construction project schedules, budgets, performance metrics, and status reports; may handle client submittals and approvals.
- Reviews and analyzes construction productivity performance for all projects and works with the site management teams on any required corrective actions to improve project performance.
- Identifies, and ensures the development of construction staff and craft roles within the business unit, including succession planning for key roles.
- Maintains regular, clear communication with construction staff on projects, both in person and remotely.
- Assists with subcontractor pre-qualification and selection of subcontractors.
- Captures and shares lessons learned across the organization.
- Focuses on developing a "core" construction workforce by way of training, creating opportunities, continuous work, etc.
- Collaborates with the business unit senior leadership team to identify methods of growth, new opportunities, and strategic vision for the NCG.
- Provides strategic leadership, direction, coaching, and mentoring to construction management personnel.
- Provides advice, guidance, and leadership direction to subordinate construction management team to ensure proper execution of major projects and operating plans consistent with corporate goals and objectives. Participates as needed in the resolution of escalated problems or issues.
- Interviews, hires, develops, evaluates, and terminates subordinate construction management personnel. Establishes goals/objectives and directs the construction management teams in achievement of goals and objectives.
- Identifies, and ensures the development of, succession candidates for the Director, Construction Management role and other key construction management positions within the business unit.
- Performs other responsibilities, as directed or otherwise required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline strongly preferred; equivalent experience/knowledge without degree.
- 15+ years of direct, relevant experience with validated success in executing complex direct hire construction projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, with audiences that include but are not limited to, management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Successful leader with proven track record and relevant industry experience (engineering & construction, power, oil and gas services, etc.).
- Demonstrated skill in planning, organizing, staffing and monitoring construction projects.
- Direct and straightforward communication style; ability to set clear and specific direction, goals, objectives and expectations; subordinates know where they stand.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated ability and record of success in developing and maintaining strong customer relationships and industry contacts.
- Strong safety leadership - will place a high priority on safety, with a continual emphasis on driving and maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Ability and willingness to delegate responsibility and accountability, but hands on enough to stay on top of the business.
- Willingness to make needed changes.
- Ability to interact and work effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization, as well as with members of management in client companies.
- Excellent communication skills; effective at conveying ideas and direction, both verbally and in writing.
- Practical approach to management, both in working with company personnel and making presentations to senior management.

- High energy level with a strong sense of urgency.
- Willingness to travel as needed/required.
