Not only do we handle diagnostic x-ray examinations and produce x-ray images for interpretation by licensed practitioners, but you will also get to support and directly perform other routine medical procedures. The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for providing diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography
Responsibilities
Perform high quality diagnostic sonography examinations, according to exam protocol, in a timely manner. Maintain production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures
- Communicate with patients to identify patient service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and others
- Instruct and communicate with patients regarding the test to be performed and assesses patient's ability to tolerate exam
- Prepare patient and area for procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors
- Maintain equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards
- Maintain medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner
- Evaluate images for quality and interpret what the image captured
- Organize daily US schedule and perform related clerical duties as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education/Credentials
- Associate Degree from an accredited college or university preferred or equivalent education and experience
- In lieu of undergraduate degree, the ratio is 1:1 meaning one year of college equals one year of work experience and vice versa
- Graduate from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Radiologic Technology required
- Current American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) required
Job-related Experience
- Customarily has at least one years of experience performing ultrasound screening of thyroid, kidneys, liver, spleen, bladder, scrotum, and trans-abdominal assessment of ovaries/uterus
- Experience in Cardiac and Vascular screening ultrasounds is preferred
