Airworthiness Engineer

Harkcon, Inc. is preparing to submit a proposal in support of the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) located at Hurlburt Field, FL. Our team, when we win this work, will provide analysis, research, training, and operational airspace integration to implement and sustain the USSOCOM Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and USAF including the Air National Guard, USSF and Air Force Reserves) UAS programs, and sustainment of the mission critical web application and database known as the Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Manager (SUASMAN) web application.

As an Airworthiness Engineer Specialist, you will use your previous aviation experience and subject matter expertise to develop airworthiness assessments to support UAS operations worldwide.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Review and action Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins as to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and review test plans, reports, and documentation to support the USAF and SOCOM in accordance with MIL-HDBK-516, Airworthiness Certification Criteria and MIL[1]STD 882, Standard Practice for System Safety.
  • Provide Airworthiness Safety Release documents to support USAF and SOCOM in accordance with MIL-HDBK-516, Airworthiness Certification Criteria and MIL-STD 882, Standard Practice for System Safety.
  • Participate in projects to improve UAS performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, such as customers, suppliers, managers, engineers, technicians, pilots, regulators, and inspectors.
  • Assist the Government in preparing responses to taskers from USAF staffs, units, and USSOCOM and/or its components regarding UAS, including assisting in preparation and delivery of technical papers and briefings.
  • Provide feedback, guidance, and support to colleagues and partners.

REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • BS degree in engineering
  • Relevant work experience and in-depth knowledge of
    1. MIL-HDBK-516
    2. Airworthiness Certification Criteria
    3. MIL-STD 882, Standard Practice for System Safety
  • TS/SCI
