Position Summary:
The Laboratory Manager of the MGH Cardiac Surgery Large Animal Laboratory is responsible for the comprehensive management of a dynamic research laboratory, including daily operations, regulatory compliance, and staff supervision. This position independently oversees the laboratory's technical, operational, and administrative activities, ensuring adherence to institutional, federal, and safety standards while supporting the Principal Investigator's research goals. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: *Oversee all day-to-day laboratory operations, including management of inventory, procurement, equipment maintenance, and scheduling of shared resources.
*Monitor laboratory safety practices and ensure a safe, compliant work environment through regular inspections, training sessions, and incident reporting. Skills and Competencies Required: *Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a multidisciplinary team.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and collaborative approach to problem-solving. Qualifications: *Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline *Knowledge of large animal models, surgical research techniques, and regulatory requirements preferred. Supervisory Responsibility: *Supervise and manage laboratory staff, including research technologists, assistants, and interns. *Oversee training programs, ensuring all laboratory personnel are compliant with institutional policies and regulatory standards.
