The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) seeks a Marketing Operations Associate to join our Membership department!
Working across the Advancement Office and other AAAS organizations, the Marketing Operations Associate (MOA) will implement and ensure best of class member engagement and marketing activities. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Member Experience and Marketing Operations, the MOA supports the marketing operations for ASU and other institutional license membership programs, email deployment, membership renewals and acquisitions, annual meetings, partner benefits, and other marketing operation activities. Supports copy writing for ASU and other Institutional Partnerships working closely with the Senior Manager of Institutional Partnerships. Reports on and analyzes metrics to improve marketing campaigns working closely with the Senior Manager of Marketing Strategy and Operations.

What You'll Do
Institutional License Membership Partnerships
- Support the Senior Manager of Institutional Partnerships in the project implementation and marketing operations for Elemental Memberships.
- Support the development of email copy and other collateral for ASU and other institutional partnerships and general institutional membership programs working closely with the Senior Manager of Institutional Partnerships and the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager.
- Manage and develop reporting and analysis on project metrics for the pilot and as the program scales.
Marketing Operations
- Manage the development, setup, coordination, and execution of marketing campaigns working with the Senior Manager of Marketing Strategy and Operations.
- Manages email lists and deployment for renewals, auto-renewals, advancement, programs, membership engagement, events, and other initiatives as needed. This includes file pulling, data quality checking, and testing email templates for accuracy working with the Senior Manager of Marketing Strategy and Operations.
- Manages email deployment for elemental membership working with the Senior Manager of Institutional Partnership.
- Communicates monthly promotional plan, renewal offers, updates code/tracking matrix and maintains creative sample files for on-going renewal campaigns for Member Central Support.
- Work closely with the Member Experience and Operations team members and across Membership to develop, maintain, and update automated email series and reporting.
- Works to increase the membership base by leveraging key potential membership pools. This includes working with internal and external stakeholders, pulling and scrubbing files, submitting requests to IT, and maintaining reporting.
- Manages the Membership Toolkit request portal. Works with customers and Director of Marketing for request approvals and works with the Member Experience and Marketing Operations team to fulfill requests.
- Participates in the testing, documentation, assessment, and updating of various Experience and Operations initiatives as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Annual Meeting
- Supports Member Experience and Operations team members on the Annual Meeting planning and logistics.
- Supports the operational needs for overall Annual Meeting presence, and other Membership events as needed.
- Develop reporting and analysis of Annual Meeting engagement metrics.
Partner Benefits Program
- Work with Advancement team members to develop criteria for the selection and assessment of current and future partnerships, support the AAAS Membership partner benefits program, including its marketing and reporting, ensuring AAAS delivers meaningful and successful benefits to our members.
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
- Minimum of 3 years in a marketing role
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to understand processes, identify optimization opportunities and communicate them effectively
- A strong "go getter" willing to be the main contact for Membership Office team working with internal and external partners
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency in MS Excel
- Experience with Salesforce
- Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Experience with HTML preferred
- Flexibility, resourcefulness, and ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously, set priorities for multiple projects, and meet multiple deadlines

The anticipated initial rate of compensation for this position is $76,000 - $82,000 per year. AAAS currently provides the following benefits for this position: paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, paid holidays, health insurance, flexible spending account, dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, retirement benefits, short- and long-term disability, each subject to the terms of the applicable program. Additional benefits may apply.
