YOUR OPPORTUNITY:

The wastewater mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of the wastewater pretreatment plant, skimmer buildings and related equipment. They will be responsible for the upkeep of the grease tankers and assist with startup, operation and shutdown of wastewater pretreatment plant.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and complete work orders relating to wastewater equipment (pumps, bearings, meters, skimmers, etc.) and buildings.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and improve facilities and equipment
  • Maintain Grease Tanker levels and facilitates Grease Tanker transfers
  • Assist in operation of wastewater pretreatment plant.
  • Follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience in a maintenance role.
  • Mechanical aptitude for plumbing, electrical and general maintenance.
  • The requirements also include those required for any other production position in the areas of Education, Language Skills, Mathematical Skills, Reasoning Ability, Physical Demands, And Work Environment.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • May be required to work long hours, holidays and weekends.

  • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently required to stand, use hands and/or fingers to grasp, handle, feel, reach and pull; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
