Position: Environmental Services Manager

Position Summary: A Manager of Environmental Services is responsible for the ongoing, effective operations of the Environmental Services and Laundry & Linen Departments. This position supports the organizational culture of Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all they come into contact with while on duty at NWTHS. The position will be held accountable to follow the direction and guidance from the Director.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist in hiring, evaluation, disciplining of housekeepers; prepare work schedules and maintain adequate staffing.
Inspect for cleanliness of the facility, sanitation and infection control; take corrective action where necessary.
Must demonstrate a willingness to serve, engage the team and the entire hospital with a positive attitude.
All departmental spaces to be kept clean and to the standards of the Health System, The Joint Commission, CMS
and all other regulatory agencies. A minimum of 3-4 rounds must be completed daily per shift on all team members.
All EVS equipment to be kept clean, labeled and orderly at all times.
Must think critically in order to develop solutions to drive results.
Participates in the development of environmental services operational and capital budgets.
Conducts training on environmental services procedures and practices.
Provides direct supervision of the EVS/ Laundry & Linen department team members.
Interpret and follow technical instructions; complete assignments timely; show a sense of urgency.
All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required:

Minimum of one year experience as a manager or leadership role.
Hospital Environmental experience desired; willing to consider other applicants if you have 1 year of management or
leadership experience.
Skilled in supporting and motivating staff at both the supervisory and hourly level.
Strong communication (listening, verbal and written), customer service, organization and planning skills.
Ability to work well with others and adapt to an ever changing environment.
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred. Willing to consider years of management
experience for the job.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

1. Ability to read and write in English
2. Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors and others
3. Ability to remain calm under stress
4. Ability to respond to pages
5. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions
6. Bending, lifting (25 lbs. minimum), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, twist, squat and stoop
7. Potential exposure to infectious organisms, agents and toxic chemicals
