Harmony Biosciences is recruiting for a Senior Payroll Administrator in our Plymouth Meeting, PA location. In this role you will be responsible for assisting with processing payroll as well as handling day-to-day financial transactions including accounts payable, expense reporting and corporate credit card maintenance. The incumbent must be able to apply critical decision-making techniques when identifying changes between payroll periods, be able to work independently, and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Payroll Processing: Overall management and responsibility for the semi-monthly payroll process, including but not limited to:
        • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems + tools/trackers to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other earnings and deductions related to new hires, terminations, and changes in pay rates.
        • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions and prepares bi-weekly reporting by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages. Collaborates with HR team to ensure that data integrity is maintained as changes occur and proper documentation is provided.
        • Setup and maintenance of functional payroll environment within ADP, including earning, deduction, and taxation code setup, maintenance, and updates within HRIS system (ADP)
        • Advises management of possible resolutions when problematic payroll issues arise
      • Compliance:
        • Ensures compliance and appropriate setup of federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour, taxation jurisdictions, and federal/state mandatory filings (SOC, EEO, etc.)
        • Respond to inbound Department of Labor requests
        • Complete monthly and quarterly wage reporting for various agencies and provide records and documentation to auditors.
        • Provide year-end compliance w/W-2 process and 1099 process if applicable

      • Reconciliation & Recurring Processes:
        • Support the preparation and posting of payroll journal entries to the ledger system.
        • Assist Finance management in providing and reconciling monthly/quarterly payroll data for month end close.
        • Assist Director of Accounting with annual 401k and Worker's Compensation audits
        • Produce financial reports related to payroll expenses for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
      • Process Improvements & Policy Development:
        • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures, including documentation of compensation procedures
      • Communications & Employee Awareness:
        • Provide day-to-day answers to employee questions about payroll, with the ability to explain difficult processes to those unfamiliar
        • Prepare onboarding material that will help new hires understand the company's compensation and benefits policies
        • In partnership w/HR, creation of proactive communications for employees and/or leadership regarding payroll-related changes on an ad-hoc and cyclical basis (such as at year-end email reminder)

Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma required; Bachelors degree in accounting or finance preferred
    • 5+ years of experience in Payroll or related area required
    • Familiarity with ADP highly preferred
    • Prior experience of Accounts Payable processing preferred
    • Prior work experience in performing accounting duties as required by generally accepted accounting principles
    • Strong understanding of balance sheet/general ledger and Payroll/AP transactions
    • High ethical & quality standards and lives them through actions and communication
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, strong Excel skills highly preferred

Physical demands and work environment:

  • No travel is required
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision.
  • Manual dexterity required to use computers, tablets, and cell phone.
  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods.
