Operating Engineer - Healthcare Facilities What this job involves:

At JLL, we are collectively shaping a brighter way for our clients and team members through exceptional facilities management. We're seeking a skilled Operating Engineer to join our team supporting healthcare facilities throughout Snohomish County, WA. This role offers both stability and growth within our collaborative environment where we believe the most effective teams are built when everyone is empowered to thrive. You will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment controls and plumbing systems throughout the facilities. Your expertise will be essential as you conduct routine assessments of building systems operations, perform tests, analyze data, and monitor all mechanical and electrical operating equipment. What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Oversee and maintain HVAC operations through building automation systems, including monitoring electrical systems, emergency backup systems, and hot water systems
  • Monitor, adjust, and maintain critical equipment including chilled water systems, air conditioning units, boilers, ventilation systems, water heaters, pumps, valves, and piping
  • Record operational readings and make precise adjustments to ensure optimal equipment performance and energy efficiency
  • Analyze system operations, identify the root causes of malfunctions, and implement appropriate corrective actions
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on base building and critical system equipment, including proper cleanup and documentation
  • Install and repair motor bearings, replace pump seals, and service piping, valves, filters, hot water systems and associated controls
  • Collaborate with other maintenance professionals on major repairs and building equipment projects
  • Maintain accurate logs, document equipment repairs, manage work orders, and communicate effectively with the Operations Manager
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and local building codes
  • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC equipment
  • Ability to visually inspect machinery and building systems
  • Physical capability to navigate stairs frequently, climb ladders up to 40 feet, and lift 60 lbs
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to safety protocols and procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of related trade schooling/college OR 5+ years of field experience
  • Experience working in healthcare environments and understanding of compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with emergency backup systems (generators, UPS, etc.)
  • Experience using CMMS/TMS systems for maintenance management
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools and technical equipment
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
  • Dedication to continuous learning and professional development

Estimated total compensation for this position:

8,960,640.00 - 89,606.40 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
