The Environment Professional supports environmental compliance through spill remediation oversight, air quality testing coordination, and regulatory agency liaison work. Performs supervised assignments using environmental and oil/gas operational knowledge. Assists EHS leadership with compliance and risk management while supporting Business Units and Corporate Departments in meeting environmental regulations and Devon's EHS protocols. May assist Safety Professionals as needed.

  • Builds strong relationships with operations staff; leads meetings to enhance environmental learning and improve metrics

  • Cultivates key relationships with government agencies, trade groups, landowners, and NGOs affecting Devon operations

  • Manages environmental data collection and maintenance for reports, metrics, and regulatory compliance

  • Supports environmental aspects of well siting, including NEPA, ESA, and CWA compliance

  • Investigates and follows up on environmental incidents and oversees remediation efforts

  • Collaborates with Business Units and Corporate Departments on EHS protocol development

  • Provides support for air permits, SPCC plans, emissions testing, and hazardous materials compliance

  • Delivers environmental guidance to field personnel and operating divisions

  • Conducts new employee environmental orientation

  • Creates and delivers presentations to diverse audiences

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental field (preferred)

  • 0-3 years' experience in environmental or oil/gas operations

  • Knowledge of Federal air, water, and waste permitting/compliance regulations with research capabilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and after-hours

  • Ability to travel on short notice with overnight stays (approximately 25%)

  • Interest in process automation using AI
