PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS




  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in flavor, ingredient, food or chemical manufacturing(for external candidates)OR could have 5 years or less experience with the ability to demonstrate successful performance as a Lead Operator(for internal candidates)
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of industry specific flavor manufacturing/processing practices and raw materials
  • Thorough understanding of all equipment and processes within assigned area of production/processing
  • Forklift operation skills
  • SAP, barcoding experience is required



TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES




  • Strong math, science, reading and recordkeeping skills


  • Strong communication skills are required


Strong PC skills, including competency in MS Office products and SAP




  • Ability to perform complex work assignments, multi-tasking and following instructions; ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong leadership competencies including team building, proactive problem solving and ability to interact with a variety of employees
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot processing/production problems, recommend solutions, and document necessary revisions needed.
  • The ability to exercise corrective action during processing is needed to prevent major dollar losses



CORE RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Performs production and processing duties of all levels of Operator
  • Drives productivity within assigned department by managing resources including prioritizing and controlling workflow, coordinating schedules, materials and equipment
  • Work in accordance with all relevant requirements including , but not limited to GMP, Food Safety, OSHA , HACCP, FDA, USDA and internal safety rules
  • Responsible for Food Safety compliance
  • Contributes to the overall safety of the department by following and enforcing safety guidelines
  • Takes unsafe equipment out of service and initiates work orders to resolve issues
  • Administers safety training and conducts safety inspections
  • Facilitate appropriate record keeping in the department and assist in properly training employees
  • May lead shift change meetings
  • Enforce compliance of all sanitation cleaning procedures and general housekeeping guidelines with employees
  • Attends site training sessions including, but not limited to hazardous waste training
  • Conducts training and instruction of full-time and temporary staff within department and cross functionally
  • Effectively communicates within the department and serves as a representative for the department within the site
  • Complete necessary documentation to communicate shift activities, equipment status and work priorities to others shifts and management.
  • Controls inventory of production supplies
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts on product, system and process problems
  • Identify deviations and document/communicate them in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Lead lean activities
  • Assume supervisor responsibilities in supervisor's absence
  • Excellent attendance, flexibility, enthusiasm and a positive approach to work performance
  • Other tasks as assigned
