Responsibilities
As a Laborer/Groundman, you are responsible for providing general labor for aerial and underground construction projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge. In addition, you will:
- Be responsible for various manual tasks such as digging trenches, unloading building materials, and preparing job sites with use of hand tools like shovels, rakes, and picks.
- Perform fiber blowing operations as directed, assisting in the installation of fiber optic cable in conduits using fiber-blowing equipment.
- Conduct general labor on construction sites
- Conduct Aerial/Underground work as needed and directed and as trained
- Construct and repair underground RF and Fiber service
- Conduct placement of conduit
- Support with trench digging and closing
- Support with the movement of materials and vehicles as directed by Foreman or Supervisor
- Conduct maintenance services as directed by Foreman to include: - Cleanup, Wash Vehicles, Landscaping
- Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment.
- Be involved with vehicle and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified
- Tow various trailers with flatbed trucks
- Learn how to read and construct from a design schematic of map
- Learn all inventory and equipment required
- As applicable, learn and be certified on the use of equipment:
- Line truck
- Bucket truck
- Cable Reel equipment
- Saws and drills
- Climb poles with climbing equipment safely
- Move and relocate RF and Fiber service
- Be familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines
Qualifications
About You:
- Safety is a part of your day to day
- You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality
- You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work
- You enjoy getting your hands dirty with your team
- You can lift and carry up to 70 lbs
- Have the ability and desire to learn and understand maps, drawings, diagrams, and other industry related knowledge for the project build process
- Must pass UI Test (urinalysis)
- 1 year practical working experience in construction, preferrably Telecom or a similar industry
- 1 year working in a full time, outdoor role
- Ability to work in a fast-paced high volume work environment
- You have a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record, last 3 years
- CDL preferred
