Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Assists with the setup and organization of HazMat storage to support Palmetto Goodwill's hazardous materials initiatives.

* Contributes to data collection and analysis for the Weight Study, including relevant research.

* Supports the execution of waste audits and energy-use assessments across facilities.

* Identifies and propose opportunities to divert materials into alternative reuse or resale streams.

* Recommends actionable strategies to reduce waste, energy consumption, and water usage in daily operations.

* Creates educational materials to promote sustainability awareness among team members and customers.

* Partners with the Marketing team to engage the public and raise awareness of sustainability efforts.




Supervisory Responsibilities



This position does not have direct reports.



Qualifications



Must be able to:

* Understand English; comprehend instructions provided in verbal and written form.

* Sound understanding of environmental, economic, social and governance issues.

* Strong research skills and ability to analyze, interpret data and create reports.

* Superior interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities while also working independently and in a team environment with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as externally.

* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from donors, vendors, and employees using tact, courtesy, and cooperativeness.

* Ability to exercise discretion while managing confidential information.

* Must have experience and sound working knowledge of general office equipment and computers to include Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Office, Excel, PowerPoint), data-based programs, and the internet.




Education and Experience



Pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, or a related field.



Work Environment



In-Office and/or remote work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

* Regularly required to: sit; walk; stand; bend; talk and or hear; use close, distance, and peripheral vision; use depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.

Occasionally required to: reach with arms; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
