The Meshinchi Lab in the Translational Science and Therapeutics Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, led by Dr. Soheil Meshinchi, focuses on developing targeted immunotherapies for pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML) by identifying leukemia-specific cell surface proteins suitable for CAR T-cell therapy. Their research has expanded to include other cancers, such as osteosarcoma, by leveraging shared molecular targets like folate receptor alpha (FOLR1) to design novel treatments.



Responsibilities

The Lab Aide will be responsible for general laboratory support, including preparing stock solutions, maintaining the lab environment, and disposing of biohazard waste.

    Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solutions
  • Restock lab supplies
  • Empty biohazard waste
  • May assist with experiments, including maintenace of cell lines, DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

This is a temporary, part-time position for a fixed duration.



Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from High School or equivalent with interest in the sciences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrollment in a university-level science degree program (e.g. biology, chemistry, or biochemistry).
  • Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to learn new skills quickly is essential.
  • Previous or current coursework in biology and/or chemistry and past laboratory experience.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $29.54 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
