This position will be part-time, equivalent to 50% time during one quarter (3 months).

Position description

UCLA Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences seeks applications for a temporary lecturer position in the area of Oceanography for the Fall 2025 Quarter. Responsibilities will include lecturing, designing and developing laboratory exercise, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, writing and grading exams and problem sets, and training and supervising teaching assistants for a course in Oceanography.

This course is a comprehensive introduction to our largest environment on Earth: The Ocean. The course will provide a basic understanding of plate tectonics, ocean currents and waves, seawater chemistry, marine food webs, biological processes, and impacts of climate change and other human-caused activities. Lectures are accompanied by lab sections with demonstrations.

Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in Oceanography or equivalent discipline. Experience in teaching and/or practicing Oceanography at the college level is preferred but not required.
