Job Overview

The Network Engineer Associate trains in designing, building, implementing and maintaining data network, data center standard operations and unified communication systems. Supports and assists Network Engineer Sr staff with analyzing network, data center, unified communication requirements, system traffic and potential risks to identify areas of improvement and make recommendations to ensure organizational standards and needs are met.

We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual to join our team as a Network Engineer Associate. This role requires a combination of strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of operational procedures and best practices for data center environments. The ideal candidate would also be familiar with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools and automation, as these are becoming increasingly important for efficient data center operations.

Additional Information

Department: Data Voice Network
Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. Work hours may vary based on the needs of the department. This role will also require on-call commitments, approximately one week every other week.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Trains in designing, building, and implementing Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), wireless, voice, video and clinical emergency alerting systems.
  • Trains and assists with performing installations, upgrades, maintenance and technical duties supporting the data center operations of servers, storage, and operating systems as they pertain to implemented hardware and software supporting IT systems.
  • Assists in analyzing data center hardware, network and basic unified communication needs of the organization and translates requirements into detailed technical specifications.
  • Trains and assists in monitoring tools and systems and how to troubleshoot and resolve problems with data center hardware, network and unified communications systems. Alerts appropriate individuals concerning related problems, outages, and incidents.
  • May assist in operationally managing infrastructure operational projects.
  • Trains in and supports IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes including change, incident, and problem management.
  • Learns to conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) following significant service incidents.
  • Attends on-site presentations and "lunch-and-learn" sessions to grow in expertise. Participates in on call responsibilities.
  • Sets up and installs equipment, hardware and cabling on data equipment and peripherals. Performs general and preventative maintenance and plans down-time procedures.
  • Oversees maintenance, cleaning, cooling, and power needs for the hardware and equipment room environment.
  • Maintains inventory and labeling of equipment and removal of decommissioned hardware. Maintains an adequate spare parts inventory of systems, subsystems, and component parts used in repair work.
  • Assists with shipping, receiving and distribution of equipment and hardware.
  • Monitors assigned enterprise systems and services and responds to events and alerts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education - High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data Center and networking experience

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $32.80 to $49.20
