We have an exciting new opportunity to join Symetra as a Infrastructure Engineer II.


About the role

As the Infrastructure Engineer II you will solve business needs with some guidance and supervision. They participate in design reviews, suggest improvements, and guide interns and entry-level engineers.


What you will do

  • Serve as a point of escalation for high-complexity technical issues, demonstrating expert-level troubleshooting and resolution capabilities across hardware, software, and network environments.
  • Analyze trends and system data to proactively identify root causes, recommend systemic improvements, and reduce recurring issues across the organization.
  • Independently manage support tickets with increased autonomy and accountability, coordinating resolution across multiple teams and ensuring timely communication and closure within SLAs.
  • Own the consultation and triage process for escalated issues and business-critical impacts, engaging cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Provide technical mentorship to peer team members, sharing best practices and supporting skills development.
  • Contribute to and maintain the Knowledge Base with advanced troubleshooting content and scalable solutions, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives by evaluating current support workflows, recommending enhancements, and contributing to strategic planning.
  • Dedicate approximately 50% of time to project work supporting strategic IT initiatives, such as technology upgrades, infrastructure optimization, and data-driven reporting.


Deliver reporting and analysis on end-user device health and support trends to influence future planning and investment

Compensation

Salary Range: $93,900 - $156,600 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.


Your experience and skills

  • 5+ years of experience in IT support with progressively increasing technical responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing technical data, identifying trends, and delivering actionable insights.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft technologies.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, LAN/WAN environments, and cloud computing technologies.
  • Experience supporting enterprise endpoint environments (PCs, laptops, printers, peripherals) for both onsite and remote users.
  • Proven ability to mentor peers, lead by example, and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong documentation mindset and a proactive approach to knowledge sharing.
  • Relevant certifications preferred: A+, Network+, MCP, MCSA, MCSE.
