Position Summary:

The Biller-Collector will be responsible for the timely processing of insurance verifications on inquiry and referral calls. Will coordinate and process admission verifications into the hospital patient accounting system. Responsible for coordination between business office and the admission departments on all financial issues regarding admissions.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for verifying insurance benefits for all inpatient and outpatient admissions & for collection of monies due from patient.
  • Responsible for reconciling and preparing daily census as needed.
  • Responsible for reviewing and updating all patient demographic information.
  • Responsible for making sure all verification inquiries, referrals, and admissions are documented and/or entered into the computer system.
  • Responsible for reviewing admission information for accuracy.
  • Responsible for communicating to the billing staff all information necessary for accurate billing.
  • Responsible for billing all patient claims in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for evaluating bill cycles and changing/updating when necessary.
  • Responsible for entering all billing and insurance documentation into the computer system.
  • Responsible for timely follow-up on Accounts and for accurate review of contractual on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for recommending Bad Debt timely.
  • Responsible for responding to all patient and insurance inquiries in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education: High school diploma of GED. Some college preferred.

Experience: Two to five years work experience in business office setting in a healthcare related field is required. At least two or more years experience medical billing experience is highly desirable. Experience with insurance billing, computer and business software programs (HMS) preferred.
