Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Institute for the Environment (IE) has a multifaceted mission: (1) To strengthen environmental research capacity across UNC by supporting a multi-disciplinary community of scholars that enhances collaboration, increases sharing of knowledge, and identifies solutions to the world's critical environmental problems. Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

This Post-doc position will serve as a Project Manager and Facilitator to support the implementation of the Albemarle Pamlico National Estuarine Program's Coastal Conservation Management Plan ( CCMP) 2025-2030. To pilot this program, the Postdoctoral Researcher will develop an implementation framework for five priority environmental management, science, and conservation actions. The overall goal is to apply the implementation framework as many of the 31 total actions outlined in CCMP 2025-2030 as possible within the contract period. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be responsible for overseeing a team of researchers in completing several deliverables for each action, supporting the development and refinement of the implementation framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage student researchers and set goals for focus teams and agendas for team workshops
- Synthesize and interpret data to inform implementation plans.
- Produce maps, literature reviews, and summaries as needed for APNEP staff and focus teams.
- Prepare interim progress reports to update APNEP staff.

Other task, duties and responsibilities as outlined/assigned.

The Postdoctoral Researcher will primarily be supervised and mentored by Lindsay Dubbs, a Research Associate Professor at the UNC Institute for the Environment. They will also be mentored and supervised by Susan Cohen and Michael Piehler, UNC Institute for the Environment Associate and Executive Directors, respectively.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Ecology or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Well-developed critical and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with the ecosystems and ecology of the Albemarle Pamlico Estuarine System.
- Experience with ArcGIS for ecological map making and geospatial analysis using publicly available datasets.
- Experience and comfort organizing and leading interdisciplinary teams.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
