Job Description

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is seeking an experienced Industrial Hygienist to join our team. The successful candidate will promote a safe and healthy environment for a diverse university community, including faculty, staff, students, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in industrial hygiene and will be adept at recognizing, evaluating, and controlling a variety of hazards.

Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement strategies to control or eliminate identified hazards, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
* Conduct assessments to identify potential chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic hazards.
* Perform air, noise, and other exposure monitoring; analyze data and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
* Collaborate with research departments to ensure laboratory safety practices are up-to-date and effectively implemented.
* Develop and deliver training programs on topics such as hazard communication, respiratory protection, and laboratory safety.
* Conduct incident investigations related to occupational exposures.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, assessments, and training activities
* Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
* This position may require occasional work outside of regular business hours to respond to emergencies or conduct assessments.
* Must be able to wear/use personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
* Must be physically able to conduct inspections in various settings, including laboratories, mechanical rooms, and construction sites.

M-F 8-5

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Industrial Hygienist. Master's degree in related field. Ten years of total experience. Five years in higher education or research environment.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $78,000 to $102,000 yearly

Grade: GGS-012
