Psychology Project Coordinator

The DiNicola Lab at the University of Virginia Department of Psychology is seeking a full-timeProject Coordinator to start in Fall 2025.

Our lab uses a precision neuroscience approach (i.e., repeated scanning of individuals) to explore: (1) how human brains are organized into large-scale networks, (2) how those networks support cool cognitive functions (like memory, social inference, language, emotion & cognitive control), and (3) how networks change across adolescence and in relation to major life events. In addition to neuroimaging (MRI), we use lots of tools to learn about cognitive processes and factors that might impact network function and change. Some of those tools include ecological momentary assessment (EMA), behavioral tasks, questionnaires and hormonal assays. There will also be opportunities to develop and pursue your own research interests, including conference or manuscript submissions.

A successful candidate will be motivated to help sculpt a collaborative lab environment, gain hands-on research training (including behavioral and neuroimaging data acquisition, processing and analysis), bring strong organization skills, and work with and build professional relationships with participants (including young adults, teens and their families). This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain experience with cognitive neuroscience research in preparation for a graduate career.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Management of day-to-day lab operations.
• Assist with IRB and grant protocols .
• Participant recruitment and enrollment through community outreach and advertising.
• Data acquisition (behavioral and neuroimaging)
• Data management (entry, checking and quality control, database maintenance)
• Serving as an interface between collaborating lab groups.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Associate's degree in related field
• Experience: Equivalent experience/course work will be considered in lieu of degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• B.A. or B.S. in psychology, neuroscience, or related field (as of summer 2025)
• Previous research experience
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Careful attention to detail

• Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
• Comfort with statistical analysis software (R or Python preferred)
• Prior experiences with neuroimaging data acquisition and/or processing, survey software (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics) or one or more the following (Linux, MATLAB, SPM, FSL)

Additional Information: This is a two-year position with renewal dependent upon continuation of funding. This position will be fully on site.

This position is full-time (40 hours per week) with full-time benefits.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.

This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Salary is contingent with education and experience. This is a non-exempt level, benefited position.
