Approval of remote and hybrid work is not guaranteed regardless of work location.For additional information on remote work at Penn State, seeNotice to Out of State Applicants. JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Director of Sport Camps Health will provide the following services:
- Recruit and assign medical Staff (Sports Health Techs and Sports Health Aides) to work sports camps and clinics throughout the year.
- This includes non-PSU affiliated organizations in need of sports medicine coverage for Sport Camp related events on campus.
- This may include hires through Go4Ellis. Review credential material and ensure trainings and background checks are complete
- Schedule Sport camps with appropriate coverage based upon camp/clinic attendance/locations/risk of sport.
- Meet with the staff to discuss job responsibilities and policy changes either as a group or individually as needed.
- Instruct Sport Health Care on the policy and procedures of sport camps using the policy procedure manual.
- Train staff in properly filling our AIL and Incident reports
- Order and Inventory appropriate supplies for Sport Camps.
- Work with the Sports Camps Office to ensure that the proper payroll instructions, background clearance guidelines/procedures, and online training instructions are given to each person working camp.
- Communicate with risk management, Sports Camps Director, Director of Athletic Training, and Director of the Camps/Clinics camper's injuries in support of the Sports Health Staff.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about the camper, injury or concerns with the Sports Health Staff.
- Attend Camp Directors end of year and beginning of the year meetings to address concerns or changes to Sports Health Care policies or procedures.
- Work with the Sports Camps Office to collect payroll, background checks, and online trainings for the Sports Health Staff prior to working events.
- Work with the camp office on updating the policy manual when appropriate
- On call to medical staff during camps for updates on urgent matters
- Assist camp office on updating medical forms when needed
- Update physician standing orders when needed
- With the help of the camp office, move supplies to and from med suite for summer camps
Candidate must hold valid and current credentialing as an athletic trainer (AT) in good standing per the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer, which includes concurrent emergency cardiac care (CPR/AED) credentialing. BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
