Summary:

The Director Radiology provides strategic and operational leadership for Radiology services across Akron Children's Hospital. This role ensures high-quality, compliant, and efficient imaging operations, oversees financial and regulatory performance, and drives programmatic growth in alignment with organizational goals. The director collaborates closely with physician leaders and cross-functional teams to support patient care, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the enterprise.

Responsibilities:

1. Leads the planning, development, and execution of enterprise-wide Radiology operations, ensuring alignment with organizational mission, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

2. Serves as the Individual Responsible for Radiation Protection (IRRP) per Ohio Department of Health guidelines, maintaining compliance with all applicable safety and accreditation standards.

3. Partners with the Chair of Radiology and other stakeholders to evaluate and expand imaging programs, optimize service delivery, and improve patient access.

4. Develops, monitors, and manages operating and capital budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and cost containment.

5. Oversees and develops leadership and frontline staff across Radiology teams, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance management in alignment with hospital standards.

6. Leads efforts in service recovery, patient satisfaction, and quality outcomes by implementing best practices and Lean methodologies where applicable.

7. Collaborates with IT, clinical, and operational leaders to optimize imaging technologies and workflows, including PACS, VR, and RIS systems.

8. Drives business development initiatives in coordination with organizational growth strategies, including expansion into new markets or service lines.

9. Maintains a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement throughout all Radiology operations.

10. Fosters a collaborative and supportive work environment that promotes employee engagement and professional development.

Other information:

Technical Expertise

1. Required: Proficiency with Radiology systems such as PACS, RIS, and voice recognition tools.

2. Required: Strong financial management, compliance, and performance improvement experience in healthcare settings.

3. Preferred: Experience with Lean or other operational efficiency frameworks.

4. Required: Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and work effectively at all levels of the organization.

Education and Experience

1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Radiologic Sciences, or related field, Master's degree is preferred.

2. Certification: Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology with registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); required.

3. Years of relevant experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of total relevant experience in imaging services or healthcare management.

4. Years of experience supervising: Minimum of five (5) years in a leadership role overseeing radiology operations.
