Position DescriptionThe Functional Status Assessment Coordinator - Cerner Enabled brings subject matter expertise in functional status data collection, assessment design, and workflow enablement. Rather than directly performing assessments, this role evaluates and supports the optimization of Cerner-enabled workflows and system configurations to ensure frontline users can efficiently document, analyze, and act on patient functional status across care settings. This individual must also have working knowledge of durable medical equipment (DME), especially prosthetics, and leverage Cerner tools to support appropriate documentation, referrals, and service requests that ensure Veterans receive timely and appropriate support. The role includes identifying and resolving barriers in the capture and processing of DME-related data and workflows to expedite care, improve documentation quality, and enable accurate reporting. Applicants must have exceptionally strong communication skills and thrive in an environment of leading discussions and meetings with executive-level stakeholders. APPLICANTS MUST HAVE VA AND/OR DOD EXPERIENCE Type of Employment: Full-Time Work Location/Travel: Expected 50% travel required; applicants must be free from travel restrictions to accommodate evolving needs of the client. Salary Range: $68,000 - $86,000 base salary, depending on experience and location. Competitive salary/pay, potential for bonus. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is highly competitive but dependent upon employment type (1099, contract, W2). Role Reports to: Hiring Manager Direct Reports: This role has no direct reports Responsibilities:* Serve as subject matter expert in functional status assessments and associated workflows across Cerner-enabled environments. * Evaluate the design and integration of functional status tools within Cerner to identify gaps, redundancies, or inefficiencies. * Assess and triage open change requests and issues and apply industry knowledge and expertise of Cerner functionality to resolve the tickets. * Advise on functional status data standards and ensure they are properly captured, reported, and accessible for downstream use. * Collaborate with clinical teams to understand user needs and pain points related to documenting functional status. * Recommend build changes or enhancements to optimize workflows for both inpatient and outpatient settings. * Ensure that Cerner documentation tools support regulatory compliance, patient-centered care, and continuity across transitions. * Support change management and training efforts by contributing to materials and messaging that promote accurate and consistent use of assessment tools. * Provide at-the-elbow support and learning. * Demonstrate excellent communication skills and present in the most polished and professional manner. Knowledge and Skills Required:* Extensive knowledge of Cerner configuration for assessment documentation workflows and forms. * Deep understanding of functional status metrics, clinical relevance, and use in patient care decisions. * Familiarity with interdisciplinary workflows and how functional data supports care planning and resource allocation. * Ability to evaluate system design and propose improvements aligned with clinician needs and patient outcomes. * Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership presence in project and clinical settings. Education/Certification Required:* Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or related health field required. * Master's degree preferred. * Clinical licensure (e.g., RN, PT, OT) preferred, not required. Experience Required:* Minimum of 5 years of experience with functional assessments in a clinical setting. * Minimum of 5 years of experience with Cerner implementations or system optimization. * Required experience supporting VA and/or DoD Cerner deployments. Technical Skills Required:* Proficiency with Cerner tools including assessment form development, MPages, and documentation configuration. * Understanding of HL7 data structure and how assessment data maps to clinical and analytics systems. * Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams, and digital communication platforms.
