A Post-Doctoral Research Fellow training position is available to study the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer treatment resistance and the development of new therapeutics. The training will be mentored by Dr. Peter Nelson and members of his research group.

Training opportunities are provided through a highly multi-disciplinary research team that includes scientists with expertise in biochemistry, bioinformatics, single cell genomics, epigenetics, pharmacology and pathology. The laboratory website provides additional information: Peter Nelson Lab

The particular areas of emphasis for this position center on studies of resistance to current therapeutics deployed to treat advanced cancer including therapeutics that exploit androgen receptor signaling, DNA repair deficiency and immune-based agents. We are recruiting a post-doctoral fellow to engage in laboratory-based studies of these processes. This position will focus on delineating the molecular mechanisms driving treatment resistance that include cell intrinsic (e.g. mutation, tumor heterogeneity, cell plasticity, epigenetic) and microenvironment events, with opportunities for translational studies evaluating new clinical approaches that circumvent resistance mechanisms. The research has direct relevance to the treatment of cancer patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. degree in biology; biochemistry; genetics; molecular biology; cell biology; immunology or related field is required. An M.D. degree is also acceptable.
• Highly-motivated, organized individual who thinks independently but enjoys working as part of a dynamic, collaborative, and multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in one of the following areas: medicine/urology/oncology, genomics/genetics, analysis of inflammation/immune composition, pharmacology, biomarker characterization.
• Expertise/skills in molecular biology techniques: RT-PCR, CRISPR or shRNA gene knock-down strategies, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, cell culture, drug toxicity assays.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $77,976 to $95,014, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
