In the position of a Highway Sign Worker, your main duty will be to identify and install directional signage along state highways. This role requires not only the strategic placement of signs in optimal locations but also the assurance that they are firmly secured to withstand various environmental conditions. Additionally, you will be tasked with replacing any broken signposts and damaged signs, which is essential for maintaining the safety and operational efficiency of the highway signage system.

Moreover, you will be responsible for the upkeep of the areas surrounding the state highway signs. This includes essential maintenance activities such as trimming weeds to enhance the visibility and accessibility of the signs. You will also engage in painting crosswalks and parking stalls, ensuring that these tasks comply with environmental protection standards, thereby contributing to the overall safety and visual appeal of the highway infrastructure.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Travel, overtime and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a painter's helper or other work leading to journeyman skills in sign painting; and such training as may have been gained through completion of the eighth school grade; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
