UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Specialty Pharmacist to join our Outpatient Truman Pharmacy team. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Minimum $110,843 - Midpoint $141,232*

*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.

*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.

Summary:

Working under limited supervision, provides pharmacy services to patients/medical practitioners. Receives, compounds, fills prescriptions, dispenses pharmaceuticals, and consults with clients regarding the nature and use of drugs. Develop and implement drug use and/or medication safety guidelines/protocols/policies. Performs routine quality control testing; prepares and maintains all necessary records required by federal, state and local regulations.

Minimum Job Requirements of a Specialty Pharmacist:

Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Current and unrestricted pharmacist license registered in the State of New Mexico. Two years of experience in a Specialty pharmacy/outpatient setting. Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure will be required if selected for hire.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Specialty Pharmacist:

1. Oversees the acquisition and disbursement of drugs and medications from and/or to various offices, clinics, and other sites inline with departmental procedures and standards.

2. Consult with patients and/or medical providers on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects; provides other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate.

3. Establish Patient Service Management Program (PSMP) for every patient, including initial therapy assessment, and ongoing patient reassessment.

4. Responsible for verifying correct prescribing, dosing modification, EMR documentation, and surveillance of medication to optimize patient clinical care outcomes and avert the risk of harm. Provide patients with a plan of care that can enhance their knowledge and behaviors necessary to optimize the benefit from the medication therapy as appropriate.

5. Enhance clinical quality and safety of medication use process.

6. Evaluate patient's condition(s) to ensure all identified and/or unidentified health problems are being treated and refers patients, when appropriate, to a healthcare provider.

7. Responsible for maintaining inventory, storage, and recordkeeping of all pharmaceuticals.

8. Performs routine quality control testing of equipment, environment and record keeping as required by federal, state and local regulations.

9. Follows established departmental policies and procedures; while ensuring continuous quality improvement, safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards and/or objectives are followed.

10. Serves as Clinical and Operational resource to assigned areas in providing guidance for clinical operational aspects, as well as clinical decision-making of program(s).

11. Identifies, reports, and/or corrects environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk.

12. Reports potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner.

13. Support the ongoing development of clinical staff by providing continuous performance feedback.

14. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
