HDR is looking for a Senior Power Delivery Project Manager to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals. The primary duties of the Senior Power Delivery Project Manager include planning, developing, executing, and closing out all aspects of Power Delivery projects of all sizes and complexity. This will involve scope and / or proposal development, project team development / assignment, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management. Project types may include substations, system protection / planning, transmission lines, distribution lines, as well as associated strategic services, including routing / siting, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, and construction management. Delivery model of projects may include traditional Design-Bid-Build (DBB), Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC), or other models, but this position is primarily focused on the engineering and ancillary services described above. Other duties may also include building local teams and leveraging existing staff across the company to execute work and deliver world class services to clients and engaging in business development activities to support existing and new clients. The Senior Project Manager will also be expected to:




  • Understand and apply basic project management tools and techniques including the following: project life cycle, client goals and objectives, contract terms and project risk, work breakdown structures, project scope / schedule / budget, project initiation, project planning, financial management and controls (including earned value), internal / external communication, team management, change management, and project closeout.
  • Independently coordinate the work of engineers and the balance of the team throughout an entire project's life cycle.
  • Be responsible for overseeing non-engineering components of projects, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, construction management, and other services.
  • Lead the QA/QC process on projects and be committed to delivering world class quality.
  • Work independently and possibly direct, mentor, train, and supervise one or more Transmission APM's, Project Engineers and/or junior design staff.
  • Perform client management, project management and / or technical support activities.
  • Represent HDR to support marketing and proposal development for new opportunities.
  • Travel for business development and execution as required.


Preferred Qualifications



  • A license/certification
  • PMP certification
  • Familiar with Primavera P3 or SureTrak software preferred
  • Familiar with Prolog software preferred
  • Local candidates are preferred
  • *LI-SM1

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
