ISO New England's Infrastructure Services team is seeking an experienced and motivated Data Center Engineer with exceptional attention to detail to help support New England's electrical grid. This position would be responsible for managing all physical data center activities inclusive of daily operational tasks, life-cycle operations, and would ensure all regional data center facilities are configured to handle current and emerging technologies. This Data Center Engineer has a unique opportunity to build and support the IT infrastructure foundation for the region's most mission-critical energy services.

How you will make an impact:



  • Manage physical data center asset lifecycle to include:



    • Facilitate all data center asset deployments, retirements and associated network cabling
    • Manage all data center infrastructure inventories, labeling, and end-of-service dates
    • Manage all data center capacity planning, relocation and consolidation efforts
    • Help manage infrastructure monitoring applications



  • Maintain data center best practices and procedures to include:



    • Review new data center and network infrastructure industry standards for adoption
    • Create and maintain data center and network diagrams
    • Maintain rack elevation documentation
    • Administer and troubleshoot network configuration and security settings
    • Configure access-layer network switches for end-point access




What you need to be successful in this role:



  • 3+ years of experience working in a data center environment, and/or certification and training in data center management
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or MIS preferred
  • Experience with rack characteristics, IEC/NEMA plug and receptacle configurations, fiber optic, CAT6 cable assembly installations and maintenance
  • Working knowledge of enterprise-grade network, telecom, storage, and server infrastructure
  • Experience with the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including generators, switchgear, UPS, ATS, STS and PDU systems, CRAH/CRAC units and chillers
  • Experience working in a raised floor environment
  • Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, investigate, and execute with minimal instruction
  • One or more of the following certifications is desirable:

    • BICSI Data Center Design Consultant (DCDC)
    • BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Network+
